Euthanasia

A humane option for cats in their final stage of life performed with the utmost compassion.

The decision to euthanise your loved kitty is one of the most difficult ones you will have to make in your life. Saying goodbye to these special little members of our family can be devastating. We will consult with you on end of life decisions for your cat, and help you in this very difficult decision making process. All of our staff have the utmost empathy and respect for this decision and the emotions that our clients experience. The decision should always be based on what is best for the cat and only to avoid suffering at the end of a cat’s life.

When should I consider euthanasia?

Euthanasia is considered when a pet’s quality of life is being impacted.

What happens during euthanasia?

During your appointment, one of our veterinarians will first discuss your cat’s health problems and help you to arrive at a quality of life decision. We will take the necessary time to answer any questions you may have. We will also explain the euthanasia process to you and be certain that you are informed and comfortable with the euthanasia procedure. We will ensure that your loved kitty is calm and comfortable and that the procedure is kept private. You will not be rushed and you are welcome to stay with your cat for as long as you need, both before and after the euthanasia. We provide cremation services through Gateway and offer other options to create needed memorials for your feline family member. If you have any other questions about the euthanasia process, please contact our office.

Can you stay with your cat during euthanasia?

Absolutely, it is completely up to you. We want you to feel comfortable through this difficult time and would like you to have that choice.

What is the cost of euthanasia?

We would be happy to go over the different costs with you. Please feel free to call us at the clinic and discuss costs with our client care team.

Do you offer pet bereavement support service?

We are always here for our clients, but at this time, we do not work with an outside service for bereavement support. However, we can supply you with contact information for people who do provide this service.
